We at Sondaisa
Akitas are a family, first and foremost! Temperament is a top priority
for us here at home. Our 2 young children do a wonderful job socializing
puppies and enjoy getting in the way during training sessions. Currently
we have set a goal to include Obedience titles and Canine Good
Citizenship Certificates on all of our Conformation Champion dogs.
Although the task is a difficult one, it is a lot of fun and it can be
done. In addition to obedience, we have worked our dogs in agility and
also dog carting. Our Champion dogs that have also earned their
obedience titles are Ch. Timbersky's Brawn At Sondaisa CD, BISS Ch.

We purchased
our first Akita as a companion in 1988. Soon after that I began
attending AKC Dog Shows and got the bug.... So to speak. I was fortunate
that my first show dog was good to better quality, and although I
resembled a lack of coordination in the show ring, my dog won on her own
merits.
We have come a
long way since then...To date we have bred 40 plus champions!
We have bred 6 Best in Show dogs at Akita
Specialties. National wins include 1 National Best In Show
Specialty winner, 4 Best Puppy In Show , 1 Winners Dog, 1 Winners Bitch,
1 Best Bred By Exhibitor, 1 Award of Merit, 2 Reserve Winners
Dogs, 1 Grand Futurity Winner, 2 Best Opposite Grand
Futurity Winner, and Best In Breeders Cup. At All Breed Shows and
regional specialties our
dogs are Multiple Group winning, Group placing, multiple Best of
Breed, and Best In sweeps winners. In 2003 and currently 2004, we
are honored to be the ONLY breeder/owners to have 3 dogs in the Top
Twenty Akitas in the country.
The loyal
friendships that have developed through our dogs are many! One more
reason to be thankful to our breed, the Akita.
